Abstract

The Bible is the internal and/or external norm of style and rhetoric of religious language in an Christian context. The Christian theology is appointed by the antic rhetorical tradition, which is transformed by the various perspectives of different theologians throughout the history of Christianity. A main subject of rhetoric and stylistics in theology is the attempt to define and describe the matter of religious language. Since the second part of the 20th century theology discusses the problems of religious language under the aspects of gender. The Christian sermon and worshipping is theoretically reflected by homiletics in rhetorical and stylistic perspective. The contemporary theology understands Christianity as a certain form of life-style in an pluralistic world under the terms of rhetoric and stylistics.
