Abstract
The metamorphic rocks, the intruded into them Sakar pluton and genetically linked with them cover, paleontological dated Triassic metasediments, are considered as one united metamorphic complex. The age of the metamorphic event is Alpine - 145–115 Ma. We can separate the acid magmatic rocks in the region into 3 types according to their structural, petrochemical features and their temporal relationship with the processes of regional metamorphism: (I) pre-metamorphic (rhyolites, granitporphires and leucocratic hypoabisal granites); (II) syntectonic (Sakar Pluton, granites from Izvorovo dome); (III) late syntectonic (Granitovo and Ustrem plutons). The regional correlations, which show the great similarities between structure and geotectonic evolution of Sakar region and the adjacent areas of Balkanides – Maritza valley around the town of Haskovo and Simeonovgrad; Sveti Ilija Heights and Tvarditsa Mountain, are made.
