Abstract

Scanning force microscopy (SFM) has been used to study plate-like AgBr microcrystals, the main species in advanced photographic films. This method supplies detailed information on the shape and on the structure of the (111) top surface of these highly light-sensitive microcrystals. Individual microcrystals are characterized in terms of diameter, height and surface roughness. Finally, future SFM experiments at photographic sensitive surfaces are discussed briefly.
