Abstract

A review. In recent years, several complementary strategies have been implemented for the creation and optimization of artificial metalloenzymes. Selected examples outline the pros and cons of 5 different approaches, including catalytic antibodies, computational design, directed evolution, artificial metal-cofactors, and DNAzymes.
