Abstract
The excavation of part of the large cistern of Dharih sanctuary, located North to Tafilah (Jordan), revealed an exceptional assemblage of very well preserved pottery dating from the Late Antiquity and the beginning of the Umayyad period. Its analysis is completed by the architectural study of the cistern and the analysis of the plant macro-remains found in soil sediments. The results allow grasping the cistern functional evolution from its building at the beginning of the Roman period to its use during the Byzantine-Umayyad time. The pottery study brings new typo-chronological data for this last period, supporting the existence of local production with north and south regional influences.
