Abstract
The qualities in the "vrai amant" as described in Astrée of Honoré d'Urfé can be connected with the qualities of the "honnête homme" of the Maximes of La Rochefoucauld. This can be explained by the literature culture of La Rochefoucauld and the reserch of the ideal human being changing in his cultural context.
