Abstract
Any attempt to communicate the incommunicable arrives at a paradox. Because if language is general, the “depths of the soul” are unique, and only the experience lived in silence is authentic. To speak means to engage in the code of everyday signs; as for silence, as Sartre said, “it’s not being mute, it’s a refusal to speak, therefore it is still speaking.” Would it be possible to make a different use of language, a sovereign use, not subject to the norms of interaction – to find a language that would appear to say something but that would communicate nothing but the incommunicable? Drawing on numerous unpublished documents, Klossowski l’incommunicable. Lectures complices de Gide, Bataille et Nietzsche analyses how, by developing the simulacrum of a language or “pure media”, Klossowski managed to move beyond the prevarications of Gide, so hesitant to speak or remain silent about his “Uranianism”, and the wrath of Bataille or Sade, equating destruction and purity, to finally arrive at the Nietzschean innocence that creates gods.
